Consignment Policy
Sweet Joey specializes in name brand and
designer maternity clothing and accessories. To begin the
consignment process, please send us a "request to
consign" by completing the
consignment request form
and email it to
customerservice@sweetjoey.com.
If you have previously consigned with us,
please include your Customer Number (CN). If you are working
with us for the first time, a CN will be assigned to you. After
receipt of your "request to consign" email, Sweet Joey will
respond to your request confirming the items that have been accepted
for consignment along with shipping directions. Please do
not send items until your request has been approved.
We ask that you provide items that are in
style as well as freshly laundered or dry cleaned, pressed, on
hangers or folded neatly in a box. Additionally, items must be
free of stains or excessive pilling, zippers and buttons intact and be of a
marketable quality. We will accept clothes from all seasons,
but we encourage you to send clothes that are currently
in-season since they tend to sell quicker. If an item is
received by Sweet Joey and it is deemed not of marketable
quality, the item will be donated to charity. This is why it is
critical that you complete the consignment request form
accurately, ensure there are no flaws in your clothing and wait
until a confirmation has been issued before sending items.
Once received, we will inventory your
items and email you a confirmation of receipt.
Sweet Joey will then begin to
photograph, write descriptions and place your items for sale.
Sweet Joey reserves the right to determine prices and markdowns
at any time without consulting the consignor.
Once items have sold, the consignor will
receive 40% of the selling price. Accounts will be audited
every month and if you have a credit due to merchandise being
sold, you may 1) receive a credit which will be issued in a
check mailed to the address you provide or 2) maintain a credit
balance with Sweet Joey which can be applied towards any future
purchases. If you choose to maintain a balance, you will
receive an additional 10% added to your account to be used for
future purchases.
For the items that do not sell after 120
days there are three options from which you can select:
1) If both the seller and Sweet Joey agree, items can remain on
the site for sale beyond the 120 days.
2) You can have the items donated and
receive a tax write-off for the items. Sweet Joey works with
non-for-profit organizations in the Chicagoland area providing
maternity clothing for underprivledged mothers to be.
3) You can have the items shipped back to
you at your cost. You may either have the shipping charge
deducted from your consignment credit or you may mail Sweet Joey a
check for the estimated shipping charges (estimate provided by
Sweet Joey).
Nearing the end of the 120 days, you will
be notified via email to confirm with which option you would
like to proceed. If you do not respond after 3 email attempts, the
items will become property of Sweet Joey. Due to this, it is
critical that you notify Sweet Joey immediately should you
change email address.
Please know that Sweet Joey will treat
your merchandise with care and make our best effort to sell all
consignments. However, in the case of an unforeseen negative
occurrence (fire, theft, damage, or other), Sweet Joey is not
responsible for articles.
